Until today, this amateur photographer did not know that the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery existed - I was grateful for my GPS to get me there. Sadly, it was a foggy day, which made it difficult for me to take good photos and I really wish I’d had a tripod at times.
This Web page is “piggybacked” to the (Citrus Heights) Golden Valley Quilt Guild’s Web site - I am their Web master and I figure what they don’t know won’t hurt them :-) You can take a peek and the guild’s Web pages but THE only way to view (get back to) this page is to enter the exact URL you have been given. This page will not be up forever (maybe 6 months) so grab any photos you might want . . . soon.

Don Hall - January 15, 2018
As I approached, here are some of the things I saw. Fountains on the left and Columbarium on the right.
The administration building was quite nice.
As I walked to the entrance to the building, the Gettysburg Address & Gravesite Locator pleased me greatly. Leiko saw me and ran up to me calling out my name and I received a warm hug.
Inside, the right and left walls had very interesting military displays and this carved eagle was absolutely beautiful.
Everyone was directed to line up their cars in Lane 2 and, at about 10 a.m., we followed the leader to Shelter 2 for the ceremony.
Military personnel were waiting - looking very sharp.
The man in the photo below was the minister - a delightful, casual gentleman who made everyone so comfortable.
The ceremony was memorable - very military as expected. Don’s ashes and a flag was retrieved from a car and 6 military personnel marched into the Shelter. Ashes were place front and center on the “alter,” the flag was unfolded and carefully refolded and then presented to Leiko.
Click here to view a video of the flag presentation to Leiko.
Regrettably, this photographer completely failed to catch the complete gun salute, which was followed by the playing of Taps.
