Guild Meeting Notes
Come early (6:30 p.m.) and sign in at the membership table. Wear a name tag to every meeting. If you get caught not wearing one you might be fined 25 cents.
Meetings start at 7:00 p.m. and end by 9:00 pm. We meet on the fourth Thursday of each month, except for November, when we meet on the 3rd Thursday, and December, when we have a brunch on the second Saturday.
Around the room we have:
Block of the Month has a nominal fee for the kit. You bring it back completed (if you find you cannot complete it bring it back anyway). You receive a ticket and the lucky ticket holder will win the blocks to make into a quilt, etc; your choice.
Quilted Treasures are special groupings of sewing items that lucky members will win if their ticket is drawn. See prices for tickets at the table. A quarterly drawing is held every three months for special treasures.
Community Service: Our guild provides quilts, all sizes, to many non-profit destinations each year. Kits are available to members; they bring the top back or complete the entire quilt themselves. We have a community service night twice a year where members work on quilts as a group activity. Ask for more details at the table.
Opportunity Quilt: Each year we form a committee; they choose a quilt design; fabric is donated; and the quilt is completed. Our members sell tickets for family and friends; we also ask members to attend other quilt guild meetings to show our quilt and sell tickets. It's our big fundraiser of the year.
Giveaway Table: Members bring old magazines, patterns, unwanted supplies/fabric, etc., that are there for the taking - first come, first serve.
One never knows what other interesting things may pop up during the year.
