Mercy Weekend Retreats

The guild wanted to hold weekend retreats for members, especially for those who work, who could not attend a 5-day quilt retreat at Zephyr Point. So, to meet that need, two of Golden Valley’s members checked out the Mercy Center Auburn , made reservations for a Friday afternoon through Sunday noon, and the first “mini” retreat was held in June of 2012 with 12 people attending. It was an enormous success, everyone wanted to return, and reservations for 2013 were made and it was expanded to begin on Thursday afternoon and go through Sunday noon with 14 people attending. This weekend retreat is now be an annual activity for the guild with 16 spaces available.

The Mercy Center Auburn is just a short drive up Highway 80. All bedrooms are single-occupancy with either single or double bed, a sink, desk, wardrobe and chair. Towels, sheets, and pillows are provided. Guests are asked to make their beds upon arrival. If an extra blanket or pillow is desired, guests are encouraged to bring their own. Communal/single-gender restrooms are available on each floor. There are no private bathrooms. Sewing is done in a secured McAuley Hall and delicious meals, served buffet style, are enjoyed in the nearby dining hall.

The next retreat will be . . TBD
