April 2020 BOM - Village

This month we are going to make a house from the free MODA Village pattern.

Click here for a PDF of the Village instructions.

This is a charm square (5”) friendly pattern, but you can easily use fabric from your stash. Concerning the background fabric, I was planning on suggesting that you use a white on white or a white on cream print fabric so that there would be a bit of continuity between the blocks. But, if you attended our virtual guild meeting this month you would have seen that Vicki used a dark fabric for her background and the reason why. So, no rules here on background. Make your house as you like!

Remember, if you make one block you will have one chance to win all the blocks that are turned in. If you make, and turn in, 10 blocks you will have 10 chances to win all the blocks turned in.

Here is what you need to make one block:

  • 2 - charm (5”) squares
  • 1 - 4” square of background fabric, cut on the diagonal
  • 1- 2”x 2 1⁄4” rectangle
  • 1 - 2”x 2 3⁄4” rectangle

Trimming the roof pieces: Make sure you leave 1⁄4” seam at the top, then trim bottom leaving 3” in center. Fold roof in half to find center and measure from center 2 3⁄4” and trim side, flip and measure 2 3⁄4” and trim second side. Finished measurement should be 3”x 5 1⁄2” unfinished

Hang on to your blocks until we meet together again as a guild.
We will then collect the blocks and have the drawing.
